Creating our own coaching model is a rewarding process that allows us to tailor our coaching approach to our unique style, values, and philosophy. I have yet to create my own model but I learned valueable tips from this webtorial and from the wisdoms that my follow coaches in the cohort have posted in their blogs.
As I wrote in my previous blog, a coaching model represents the branding of a coach. It embodies who we are as a coach, our method and our approach. It is essentially a curriculum of our coaching process.
I believe there are several elements that help construct a model: our core values that guide our coaching practice, our area or expertise, passion or specialisation, the key steps in our process and the techniques that we use.
Similar to market a product, we need to give our model a name, most coaches choose an acronym that is easier to remember. We also need to create a visual representation of our framework so that it is easy to understand, and convenient to communicate to our coachee.
Our coaching model is a reflection of our unique strengths, experiences, and approach to coaching. By creating our own coaching model, we can differentiate ourselves in the coaching industry and provide a valuable framework for guiding our practice and supporting our coachee.
