Although this webtorial’s topic is ‘Filters and Styles’, I prefer to use ‘Lenses’, instead of ‘Filters’ because the word ‘Filter’ suggests we are blocking something out. Using ‘Lenses’ we can examine an object in different angles and perspectives.
Lenses and styles are unique perspectives, approaches, and techniques that we use to facilitate the coaching process and support our coachee. They play a significant role in shaping the interactions between us and our coachee.
Using a Personal Lens, we appreciate our coachee’s beliefs and values. Using a Cultural Lens, we are aware of cultural sensitively and adopt a communication style that respect the coachee’s cultural background. Using an Educational Lens, we shape our coaching approach and draw on techniques and methods from various other disciplines.
Our unique combination of lenses and styles contributes to our coaching approach and the effectiveness of our coaching practice. By using appropriate lenses and adapting our coaching styles, we can create a supportive and empowering environment for our coachee to achieve their goals and realise their full potential.
