In this webtorial, we examine another ICF competency ‘Evokes Awareness’. We learned how to facilitate the coachee’s exploration and discovery of new insights, perspectives, and possibilities. As coaches we want to help our coachee to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their values, beliefs, and goals etc so that we can lead them to transformative change and personal growth.
We learned techniques that we can apply to help our coachee expand their perspectives, challenge their limiting beliefs and explore possibilities. For example, we can ask them to consider an experience to examine what is most useful, challenge them to evoke insights, respectfully question their values, needs, wants and beliefs and ask exploratory questions to take them on a trajectory beyond their current thinking. Throughout this process, we monitor what’s working for the coachee to enhance the progress and experience.
Through this competency, we help our coachee expand their perspectives, challenge limiting beliefs, and explore possibilities. By facilitating self-reflection and providing a supportive environment, coaches empower our coachee to gain clarity, make informed choices, and take purposeful actions aligned with their values and aspirations.
